The Great Planting Fest at Vidya Ghat

At GKMPS Cox Town, sustainability and education merged seamlessly as students from both 6th and 7th grades, under the guidance of their dedicated Headmaster, Mrs. Shantha Mary, embraced the Veggie4School curriculum with enthusiasm and zeal.

From the moment the workshops began, it was evident that the students were eager to dive into the world of gardening. Their excitement was palpable as they eagerly participated in every activity, their minds buzzing with anticipation for what lay ahead.

Under the watchful eye of Mrs. Shantha Mary, who herself joined in the planting workshop, the students eagerly absorbed every lesson, their curiosity piqued by the promise of learning something new. With the guidance of the Garden Gurus, they embarked on a journey of discovery, eager to explore the wonders of sustainable gardening.

Drawing the layout of their square foot gardens became a canvas for their creativity, each stroke of the pencil infused with imagination and ingenuity. As they learned about companion planting and row spacing, their inquisitive minds sought clarification, prompting thoughtful discussions about plant compatibility and optimal growing conditions.

With growing pots nestled snugly into wooden boxes, the students eagerly awaited their next lesson – plant care. As they absorbed the principles of smart watering, mulching, and plant protection, their commitment to nurturing their vegetable plants grew stronger with each passing moment.

Throughout the chapter, the students’ enthusiasm remained unwavering. They embraced the curriculum not just as a series of lessons but as a pathway to empowerment, equipping them with the knowledge and skills needed to make a positive impact on the world around them.

For the students of GKMPS Cox Town, the Veggie4School curriculum was more than just a chapter in their textbooks; it was a transformative experience that ignited a passion for sustainability and environmental stewardship. With Mrs. Shantha Mary’s guidance and the support of the Garden Gurus, they emerged not just as gardeners but as champions of change, ready to tend to their gardens with care and dedication, knowing that in their hands, the seeds of a greener future had been planted.
