Students Embrace Wonder and Discovery in Veggie4School Program

In the picturesque surroundings of Srirampura, where the gentle breeze carries whispers of learning and discovery, GHPS Srirampura stands as a bastion of knowledge and innovation. Within its walls, students of the 6th and 7th grades embarked on a voyage of exploration through Chapter 4 of the Veggie4School Programme: “From Seed to Sprout. 

Under the benevolent guidance of Headmaster Mr. Shivaramu and the nurturing mentorship of Teacher Mr. Lakshminarayan Setty, a cohort of bright minds delved into the fascinating world of seeds. Among them were Gagan S, Karthik Nithesh, Prajwal Manjunatha, and Mallikarjuna Nagaraj, each brimming with curiosity and eagerness to learn. 

The classroom came alive with excitement as students uncovered the secrets hidden within tiny seeds. They marveled at the diversity of shapes and sizes, realizing that even the smallest seed held within it the potential for boundless growth. Through hands-on activities like seed segregation, they honed their observational skills, using visual and tactile senses to discern between different vegetable seeds with precision and care. 

But it wasn’t just about separating seeds; it was about nurturing a deeper understanding of nature’s wonders. Students like Mahalakshmi, Nikhitha, and Nirmalamma embraced the challenge with gusto, discovering the intrinsic beauty and complexity of the natural world with each seed they held in their hands. 

As the session unfolded, the students’ curiosity blossomed like the seeds they nurtured. They eagerly absorbed every lesson, marveling at the miracle of life as seeds sprouted into vibrant seedlings before their eyes. The realization that even the tiniest seed possessed the power to give rise to new life filled them with wonder and awe. 

Throughout the session, the students of GHPS Srirampura exhibited boundless enthusiasm and a thirst for knowledge. Whether it was exploring the intricacies of seed anatomy or witnessing the magic of germination, they approached each activity with unwavering determination and zeal.

  • Seed Identification Success: After this lesson, most of the students can identify which seeds grow into which plant. 97% 97%
  • Clarity in Sowing Instructions: Majority of the students found it easy to understand the instructions for sowing seeds. 79% 79%
  • Understanding of Watering Young Seedlings: Majority of the students reported having a very good understanding of watering young seedlings. 81% 81%
  • Improved Understanding of Plant Growth: Following the workshop, many student reported an improvement in their understanding of plant growth. 97% 97%

Unified Preferences, Shared Knowledge

  • Preference for Growing Pots: In the debate between traditional plastic pots and eco-friendly Growing Pots, the verdict was clear. A staggering 94% favored the Growing Pots, recognizing their environmental benefits and potential for sustainable gardening practices.
  • Will to Share Knowledge: A commendable 81% expressed a definite willingness to spread the joys of horticulture, embodying the spirit of learning and giving back. 

In the end, the impact of Chapter 4 reverberated through the corridors of GHPS Srirampura. Students like Amay P, Ayyappa Swamy, and Basavaraj emerged not only as guardians of the environment but also as ambassadors of curiosity and wonder. As they looked upon their thriving garden, they knew that they had embarked on a journey of discovery that would continue to bear fruit for years to come.
