Unveiling the Mysteries of Soil and Composting through the Veggie4School Program
In the heart of BBMP Girls High School Cleveland Town, a sense of excitement filled the classrooms as students eagerly prepared to embark on a journey of ecological exploration. Guided by their dedicated Headmaster, Mr. Venkataraju, and supported by passionate Gurus, the students were poised to uncover the secrets of soil and composting through the Veggie4School program.
Meet the Soil Stewards: Dilashad Banu, Hajira Keerthi, Mehak, and a cohort of eager learners, each eager to delve into the mysteries of the earth and emerge as stewards of the environment.
Under the guidance of their teachers, the students delved into the intricacies of soil and composting, discovering the vital role these elements play in sustaining life. They engaged in hands-on activities, such as the Soil Testing Workshop, where they explored different soil types’ textures and moisture levels, gaining insight into the foundations of healthy plant growth.
As they ventured into “The Compost Adventure,” the students witnessed the transformative power of organic recycling. They learned how kitchen scraps could be transformed into nutrient-rich compost for their school garden. With enthusiasm and determination, they embraced the challenge of starting their composting project, eager to turn waste into wealth and contribute to a greener future.
In the Fruity Exploration workshop, the students discovered the link between healthy soil and nutritious eating as they explored the benefits of fruits and vegetables. Layering fruits in jars to mimic the earth’s layers, they gained a deeper understanding of the intricate relationship between soil health and human well-being.
