Green Revolutionaries, In-Depth Student Reflections
At Cox Town School, a vibrant green movement took root, fueled by the passion and dedication of its students and mentors through the Veggie4school Gardens initiative. What began as a simple endeavour to nurture a garden became a profound exploration of environmental responsibility, creativity, and community engagement.
Among the eager participants were Ashwin M, Priyanka N, and Charan Kumar, who embraced their roles as Eco Explorers, eager to unravel the mysteries of sustainable living. Alongside their peers, they embarked on a transformative journey, discovering the profound impact of their actions on the world around them.
Under the guidance of the Garden Gurus, including Mallamma and Melvin, students delved into the intricacies of waste management, composting, and gardening techniques. From cultivating organic produce to crafting eco-friendly pots, they realised that every small effort contributed to a greener, healthier future for all.
The influence of the Veggie4school Gardens initiative extended beyond the school walls as Eco Explorers shared their newfound knowledge and enthusiasm with their families and communities. Through reflection forms and feedback sessions, students articulated their experiences and aspirations, reflecting the depth of their engagement and the breadth of their impact:

Active Participation in the Green Revolutionaries
Headmistress Shantha Mary of Government Model Primary School Cox Town marvels at the dedication of her 50 hands-deep students in soil, nurturing their V4S gardens with care and commitment. In discussing the school’s involvement, Mrs. Shantha explained, “Joining the Veggie4School program was easy for us because it tangibly promotes sustainability. By using growing pots made from wastepaper/cardboard, we are reducing environmental impact and teaching our students the importance of repurposing materials.”
